About this year’s She Knows Where She’s Going Award recipient, Brenda Burdick:
Brenda Burdick oversees the Marketing and Strategic Communications for the Maritime and Strategic Systems line of business of General Dynamics Mission Systems. She is responsible for the business’ marketing, communications, community relations and public relations and supports corporate government relations for Massachusetts-based initiatives. Burdick has more than twenty-five years of experience as a marketing professional, with twenty years in the defense industry. Before entering the defense market in 1996, she was the director of marketing and a member of the operations leadership team at the Swift River Inn and Resort in Cummington, Massachusetts, where she managed all aspects marketing and managed the Inn’s multi-million dollar operations. Prior to that, she was the public relations assistant and sales and marketing manager at Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires. Burdick graduated in 1989 from Bryant University with a bachelor’s degree and a double major in marketing and business communications. A lifelong resident and strong advocate of Berkshire County, Brenda is passionate about Berkshire county and devotes time to help improve the business economy of the Berkshires as well as the social opportunities for current and future residents. Civic appointments include: Berkshire United Way, Board Chair (2013-2015), vice chair (2011-2013, 2015-2017), board member since 2008; Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, board member since 2009; Berkshire Compact for Education Member; Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Foundation Advisory Board member; Berkshire Innovation Center Advisory Board member.
