Ruth P. Boraski Celebration Evening

For over 30 years, Girls Inc. of the Berkshires has been celebrating the accomplishments of young women and female leaders in our community, through the Ruth P. Boraski Celebration Evening. The event serves two purposes. First, it presents scholarships to girls who will be continuing their education after graduation. Secondly, it recognizes an area woman who makes a difference in the Berkshires and serves as a role model for girls with the She Knows Where She’s Going award.

2026 Event

The 2026 Ruth P. Boraski Celebration Evening will be held on Thursday, May 7 at 5pm. Please join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of this year’s 12 scholarship winners and “She Knows Where She’s Going” awardee.

Girls Inc. of the Berkshires Scholarship Program

The purpose of the Girls Inc. of the Berkshires Scholarship Program is to make post-secondary education more accessible to young women by offsetting some costs, especially those in low to moderate income households.

Applicants must have demonstrated extraordinary initiative, energy and creativity in community service, or the application will not be considered. Applicants must be a college-bound female at a Berkshire County high school, who plans to graduate and pursue higher education or training in the fall following high school graduation. All scholarships are need-based and reporting household income is required.

Through the years, the number of scholarships we are able to award has grown thanks to community partners who understand the need to support girls as they continue their education and work toward a bright future.

She Knows Where She’s Going Award

Since 1990, Girls Inc. of the Berkshires has presented the “She Knows Where She’s Going” Award to an area woman, or women, who makes a difference in the Berkshires and serves as a role model for girls. The award is presented in each spring as part of our Ruth P. Boraski Celebration Evening. The evening highlights our recipient’s accomplishments and tells her story and acknowledges excellence in young women from Berkshire County high schools by providing scholarships to assist them as they continue their education.
